In the thick of the action in the two most popular events, the St Mary's Trophy for saloon cars and the one-hour Tourist Trophy for pre-1966 sportscars, was ITV-F1 analyst Tony Jardine.

Sharing Rae Davis' Mini Cooper S TJ finished fourth overall in the saloon car race, and 16th in the TT with Kevin Kivlochan's mighty AC Cobra, after the car's hard top had come loose necessitating an early pit stop.

Jardine commented: "I was waiting in the assembly area to practice for the St Mary's Trophy and suddenly realised I was in exalted company.

"I looked to my left and there was current grand prix driver Narain Karthikeyan in a Lotus Cortina.

"To my right was Derek Bell, former Ferrari driver, and five-time Le Mans winner.

"One up from him was ex-Ferrari F1 star Patrick Tambay, and next to him former Lotus driver and Arrows F1 team owner Jackie Oliver.

"The list went on, and I realised there has never been such a star-studded list of drivers at the Revival.

"Gerhard Berger raced a motorbike and then joined us in the TT, but not even he could beat superstar Indy Racing League driver Dario Franchitti, who won the Tourist Trophy sharing a 'low drag' Jaguar E-type with another ex-grand prix driver, Emanuele Pirro.
