NASCAR: Jeff Gordon back on the right track

3-10-2009

by Luc Fradette

Jeff Gordon is now leading the NASCAR Sprint Cup series and the four-time title holder believes that his team has finally been able to overcome the past difficulties they had with the new car.

A year ago, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was only fifteenth in the championship

After struggling many times with set up issues while trying to get the right handling of the new Dupont No 24 car at the intermediate tracks, Gordon believes his current trend of results prove that his team have finally gotten over those problems.

"I'm a big believer that you got to walk before you can run," Gordon says. "I think we've turned the corner. This team has really shown consistently in all four races this year that we're a team that can battle up front and for the win.

Sprint Cup standings:

1 Jeff Gordon 634 points
2 Clint Bowyer 591
3 Kurt Busch 588
4 Carl Edwards 547
5 Matt Kenseth 546
etc
