How much is it exactly? Base price of an LS 2WD is a very competitive $25,000 with the XLS starting at $30,000. Last year's Outlander topped out at $31,653 with all features added, a figure that should move up slightly, that is if the 2004 model's base price increase of $803 from $24,197 is any indication.

With its high quality interior and increased performance, the 2004 Outlander is an excellent crossover SUV. (Photo: Trevor Hofmann, Canadian Auto Press) |
Overall interior room hasn't changed from last year, with its carpeted cargo area measuring 1,708 L (60.3 cu ft) when the 60/40 split rear seats are flattened and 691 L (24.4 cu ft) when upright. Those with full hands will appreciate the hydraulically-assisted rear liftgate too.
All in all the Outlander is a great crossover SUV, with performance oriented ride and handling plus the power to pass slow moving motorhomes safely - I had to do that a few times on California's 2-lane secondary highways. Its high level of interior quality makes it that much more enticing.
