2004 Nissan Maxima SE 6-Speed Road Test

The SE's titanium finished console is a thing of beauty too. Its simplicity, minimal switchgear and large open spaces of metal surfacing, stylized with a clean, vertical crease rising from bottom to top, set it apart from the usual cluttered center stacks. All the buttons and knobs are well made too, with a precise tactile quality that should go far to woo European car fans. It's easily Nissan's best interior to date, fitting being that this is their most recent flagship model.

The 178 mm (7.0 in) display panel is easy to sort out as well, with a computer-like toggle switch allowing placement of the cursor on the landscape style navigation map, useful for retrieving information on specific points of interest. Radio stations are also displayed on the lower half of the screen. The audio system's sound quality is superb as well, due to eight Bose speakers and a powerful 320-watt amplifier. It comes with an AM/FM receiver, cassette player, 6-disc dash-mounted CD changer, RDS and speed-sensitive volume control.
