Much like the exterior, there hasn't been much change to the new convertible's interior. With the exception of an S-Line three-spoke steering wheel that holds the Tiptronic shift buttons, and special trim around the cockpit - lacquer, aluminum, and carbon fiber - it just looks like any other A4 Cabriolet.

In terms of safety, this Audi is up there with the best, with a full set of airbags for driver and passenger. Rollover protection consists of a strengthened windshield frame plus two pop-up rollover bars, which work in a millisecond's notice.

Audi's numbers are usually conservative, but they are reporting the S4 Cab will reach 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, topping out at a speed limited 250 km/h. (Photo: Audi) |
Moving under the hood, a shortened 4.2 liter V8 engine has been pulled from the S4 sedan. It produces 344 horsepower, nothing new, powering all four wheels via permanent all-wheel drive for perfect grip. No matter the weather or the road conditions, AWD makes this the perfect all-year convertible.
Audi claims that with its new rocket powerplant and hole-shot traction the S4 Cabriolet will reach 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, topping out at a speed limited 250 km/h. My findings are that Audi's numbers have always been conservative concerning acceleration, by a fair margin. I figure it should be faster, but will have to wait for actual test results.
