A cabriolet with practicality, and spiritThe 335i Cabriolet is a convertible that one can live with as a daily driver. With the roof in place, a conventionally sized trunk will accommodate basic Costco runs and trips to the airport. With the roof retracted a reasonable amount of trunk space remains- enough to squirrel-away overnight bags and picnic provisions. A fold-down rear seatback expands cargo space behind the front perches while protecting leather clad, rear seating surfaces. | The cabriolet weighs 175 kg (386 pounds) more than the coupe, which is amazing. |
Roof up or down, the functional rear seat will hold two adults in comfort typical of a compact car, replete with surprisingly adequate head and legroom. As for the driver- the spoils are his...or is that hers? Lots of stretch space, and in the case of my tester, sport seats with more restraint and support than an over-cinched straight jacket. The true fortune in the 335i Cabriolet is its ability to transform from a solid-top premium sports coupe to a roofless, wind-in-the-hair sun-on-the-bald-spot extension of the human spirit; and I love it.
