The ride is greatly enhanced by Audi's Adaptive Air Suspension system which offers Sport and Comfort modes. This setup is a great fit for our winter-damaged road network; bumps and potholes are effectively neutralized.
The new-for-2008 steering is flexible and precise. Stability is simply wonderful and handling is quite good despite the length of the car. Visibility, however, is relatively limited toward the back due to the obtrusive head restraints.
The biggest problem, as you might expect, is fuel consumption, which puts a serious damper on the driving experience if you push the car a bit too much.

Marquee playersPremium full-size sedans are a select club and, therefore, quality reigns over quantity. In my opinion, the Audi A8 is second behind the near-perfect Mercedes-Benz S550 ($123,000) but ahead of the sportier BMW 750Li ($115,100). I should also mention the Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas ($89,600) and Maserati Quattroporte ($110,700), but we don't know how successful they are as their sales figures are kept pretty secret. The Lexus LS 460 ($92,700) must not be overlooked, although it still trails its European counterparts.
ConclusionCanadians can be rightfully proud of the fact that one of their own is responsible for designing what is essentially a dream car for many. Luxury, safety and endless equipment make the 2008 Audi A8L a truly fantastic vehicle. Princely comfort awaits those who embark on long trips. You can travel hundreds of kilometers without having to stop a few minutes to relax -- this car will take care of it.
