What makes the Sonata so affordable compared to the others listed here is that many standard features are optional on the competition's offerings: sunroof, leather seating, 6-CD changer, etc. This Hyundai's rivals obviously have trim levels that cost as much as the Sonata Limited, but keep in mind that you'll sacrifice a high equipment level. Certain models (Chrysler, Dodge, Ford) currently carry heavy rebates, though.

The Sonata's shape isn't really audacious, but it doesn't prevent the sedan from being attractive. |
Conclusion
The Sonata isn't the most powerful, the most beautiful, the most spacious or the most prestigious among mid-size sedans. It might not offer a navigation system, a pushbutton engine starter or all-wheel drive, but in its whole, the Sonata delivers the goods at an affordable price. This ain't no Stellar. And that's what has characterized Hyundais for 25 years: bang for the buck, where it counts most.
The 2009 Sonatas are coming soon, with a host of improvements, including a new instrument panel, a little more power for both engines, and lightly revised sheetmetal. These minor changes are proof that you don't mess with a winning formula. And since the 2009s are coming, the 2008s will probably go out the door for even less money.
