Here's a look at some of the Boxster's rivals: Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro, 250 hp, $59,800 BMW Z4 3.0si, 255 hp, $55,400 Honda S2000, 237 hp, $50,600 Lotus Elise SC, 218 hp, $61,900 Mercedes-Benz SLK280, 228 hp, $60,500 Nissan 350Z Roadster, 306 hp, $56,498 Of course, if a Porsche is out of reach, you could always check out the 260-hp Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line twins which, fully-equipped, sell for a little over $40,000. They have zero trunk space, though. | There's a lot to like about the Boxster, even in base form. | ConclusionThere's a lot to like about the Boxster, even in base form. There's room for going on road trips, it's powerful enough, and it's a blast to drive. Is it superior to the competition? Well, let's just say that it doesn't clearly stand out. But more importantly, though, it's got that Porsche badge on the hood. The Boxster might not be as iconic as the 911, but it's within reach of a lot more people that have always dreamed of owning a car that comes from Zuffenhausen.
