General Motors has presented the latest addition to the Chevrolet family, the Traverse. Like the
Buick Enclave, the
Saturn Outlook and the
GMC Acadia, the
Chevrolet Traverse is an SUV based on the Lambda platform. With a base price of $34,655, the Traverse will be the most affordable of the lot.
Thanks to its three rows of seats, this SUV can accommodate up to 8 passengers. It's available in three different versions: LS, LT and LTZ, each offered with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The Traverse is powered by a 3.6-litre, direct injection, V6 engine producing 281 hp coupled with a 6-speed, automatic transmission. According to GM, the SUV has a fuel consumption rating of 12,7 L /100 km in the city and 8,4 L/100 km on the highway.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently recognized the Traverse as a 2008 Top Safety Pick.
The Traverse will be offered in Canada this fall as a 2009 model.
