Seven-time World Champion
Michael Schumacher was back behind the wheel of a
Ferrari Formula 1 car Friday in preparation for his comeback in Grand Prix racing.
Schumacher drove a 2007 F1 car prepared by Ferrari's "F1 Clienti" department.
The test took place at the company-owned Mugello circuit in Italy.
According to Ferrari, Michael drove 67 laps, the fastest in 1.23.736.
“It's a great thing getting back on the track with an F1even if this was a car from 2007 with slicks usually used in GP2 and obviously there is no real point of reference,” Michael said in a Ferrari press release.
“After a couple of laps I was able to drive constant lap times and I'm happy with the performance. Now we've got to see how my body and the muscles respond in the next days.”
The programme will be defined in the next days. Meanwhile the Scuderia Ferrari asked the other teams to have the possibility to test the F60 before the race at Valencia and is waiting for a reply.
