Pat Symonds calls for a shorter GP weekend

The key to improving F1's 'show' is by shaking-up the weekend format.
That's the belief of Renault's Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds who claims the current track format at Grand Prix is not 'necessarily the best.
"On Friday we just run around for two hours."
He said the best solution might be to cut testing and turn up at race F1
venues, 'test on the Friday' and then start a two-day GP meeting from Saturday.
But there is natural opposition to fundamental change, he admitted.
Symonds reckons Formula One is steeped in tradition.
"But maybe it's time for some fresh ideas."
