David Coulthard will be the star of a
Red Bull Formula One demonstration in Colombia this weekend. Coulthard, who last raced for
Red Bull in 2008, will give the residents of Bogota an early wake-up call on Saturday when he blasts down the city streets at 6.30 am.
The Scot, on his first visit to the country, will use a special course in the centre of the Colombian capital, running from the Plaza de Bolivar to 18th Street. The outing follows Red Bull’s recent Northern Ireland demo in Belfast.
"It will be my first time in Colombia itself, but I have visited South America several times, so I expect the same warm reception and friendly people I've found elsewhere,” Coulthard told Red Bull.
At 2,640 metres above sea level, Bogota is the third-highest capital city in the world. The thinner air of such extreme altitude will sap the Red Bull car’s performance, but Coulthard is nevertheless determined to give spectators a thrilling display.
"I've never driven a Formula One car at a height like Bogota, and although we will have less engine power by having less oxygen in the air, I'm sure we will give a great show to the public," he added.
