German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz on Monday revealed Nico Rosberg as the team's first driver for the 2010 Formula 1 season.
In the wake of the Stuttgart marque's majority buyout of the former Brawn GP team, 24-year-old Rosberg is Mercedes' first German driver since Karl Kling and Hans Herrmann in 1955.
It was regarded as an open secret that the 24-year-old German, who made his debut for Williams in 2006, inked a contract to race with the Brackley based team some time ago.
Despite intense speculation linking Michael Schumacher with the other cockpit, compatriot Nick Heidfeld is regarded as the more realistic choice.
