F1: Toro Rosso becomes the property of Red Bull

Austrian billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz has bought back the 50 per cent stake in the Toro Rosso Formula One team owned by former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger.

Berger had purchased the stake from Dietrich Mateschitz back in 2006, after the owner of Red Bull drinks had bought the Minardi team and renamed it.

On Tuesday, Mateschitz announced he had bought Berger's shares back, taking complete control of Toro Rosso.

The Scuderia Toro Rosso captured their first victory in Formula 1 this year, claiming victory at the Grand Prix of Italy with Sebastian Vettel.
