It’s been a roller coaster year for young
Brad Keselowski. Although he’s a proven winner (Talladega in May); it’s almost September and he’s not announced a full-time deal for next season.
That’s more likely due to the down economy than a lack of talent.
He’s driven for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Racing in the Nationwide Series, and rumoured as a third car at Stewart Haas Racing, but there’s been insufficient sponsorship to make a deal.
The 25-year-old will attempt to qualify the No 25 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet at Michigan International Speedway which is about 100-miles from his birthplace, Rochester Hills.
Brad, the son of 1989 ARCA champ, Bob Keselowski and brother of Brian, who races in the Nationwide Series, first raced quarter midgets and late model sportsmen in that area.
Despite having to qualify the car, he’s happy.
"I've been able to be at home this week and spend time with my family, which is always good,” he said.
“To race in front of my hometown fans, though, is so exciting for me, and I would love nothing more than to give them a good finish. We had such a strong car at my last race with
Hendrick Motorsports at Chicago, and I really think we can do it again. (Crew chief) Tony (Eury) Jr. made some great calls in the pits, and I'm really excited to be able to work with him again."
