WRC: Petter Solberg keeps his Citroen Xsara for Finland

After testing a variety of different rally cars, including most recently a Peugeot 307, Petter Solberg has decided to stick with his Citroen Xsara World Rally Car for the upcoming Rally Finland.

Petter was considering switching his 2006-specification Xsara because on fast roads it can't match the top speed of the latest factory offerings from Citroen and Ford.

After struggling to keep up on the flat out roads of Poland, Solberg said he feared the situation would be even worse in Finland, where average speeds are the highest of the year.

So far this season Petter has driven the latest WRC spec Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer, plus the Abarth Punto Super 2000. In France last Thursday he carried out a back-to-back test with his Xsara and a Peugeot 307 on a gravel road.

"We have tested some cars now, and it turns out that it is this old Xsara that works best for us," he said. "Now we just have to do whatever is possible to get some power out of it before Finland."
