As one would expect, the designers didn't go so far overboard in the racing department to forget about pampering their street oriented customers. The front seats are extremely comfortable, while offering up enough lateral support to keep driver and passenger from sliding around on the leather. The back seats, however, are 'coupish' to say the least. If you're over 5'5" you probably won't want to sit back there for any extended period of time. That said, they are handy for picking up the kids from school.

Being a GT, the Celica comes equipped with a reasonable amount of storage space. The rear hatch opens up to an adequately sized compartment, and the rear seats fold down relatively flat for larger items, like the luggage you need for that weekend getaway-for-two you've been promising someone.

The dash incorporates a unique and attractive design. Being that the word 'unique' is sometimes used as a polite way of saying homely, I must stress that the Celica's dash is quite attractive. The center console comes to a point where it meets the dash, giving it an edgy, technical look that compliments its exterior design. The console is fitted with simple and efficient heating and ventilation controls plus an impressive sounding audio system that includes both a CD and tape player. The gauges are large and legible through the leather wrapped steering wheel, which is perfectly designed for proper 9 o'clock, 3 o'clock hand positioning.

Speaking of wheels, sit behind the wheel of the Celica and you'll feel in control from day one. Toyota does a good job of making their cars intuitive. There aren't any quirky 'character' traits, as Toyota's only focus is to place each gauge or control exactly where you expect and need them. The pedals are set up well for heal-toe action too, leaving enough room on the left for a dead pedal to rest your foot.
