2009 Ford Edge Sport Review

6-29-2009

Despite these small maladies, occupants in the Edge will certainly find plenty to appreciate including an optional Panorama Vista Roof, which is comprised of two large glass panels, the forward of which opens wide enabling a quasi roofless experience.

Safety and protection come standard
All Edges, the Sport included, protect occupants with Ford's Safety Canopy System, which also utilizes side airbags and rollover sensing.

And to assist in avoiding the need to deploy such protection, Ford's AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) is also a standard provision. These installs contribute to the Edge being a Top Safety pick of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Edge Sport final word

The Sport edition of Ford's pleasing Edge opens the rig up to a broader market by adding bling and better handling ability.

The vehicle is an eye-grabber no-doubt but it's also a practical crossover with the availability of a full larder of comfort and hi-tech convenience features, such as Ford's sophisticated SYNC hands-free communications and entertainment system.

But such niceties can quickly compound the asking price for the Edge Sport, raising it from $39,499 to an as equipped $47,979.
