Dani Clos (Jenzer Motorsport) took his first victory in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 as the result of an impressive solo effort.

The Spaniard finished ahead of Carlo Van Dam (SG Formula) and Atte Mustonen (Koiranen Bros), who takes his first podium finish in the category here in Istanbul.

Dani Clos made sure he pulled clear of the pursuing swarm of Formula Renault 2.0s right from the start to avoid any ensuing chaos in the opening bends! At the end of lap one, the Jenzer driver already had a lead of 2''3 over Carlo Van Dam (SG Formula), Atte Mustonen (Koiranen Bros) and Brendon Hartley (Motopark Academy), who'd got a good start from the fourth row. It was another story for Kasper Andersen (JD Motorsport) who had to come back into the pits at the end of lap one for a replacement nose cone.

The race order quickly settled down though. Clos, Van Dam, Mustonen and Hartley were followed by Chris Van der Drift (JD Motorsport), Filipe Albuquerque (Motopark Academy), Sébastien Buemi (Motopark Academy), Edoardo Piscopo (Cram Compétition), John Michael Edwards (Motorsport Arena) and Walter Grubmüller (Team Jenzer).

There was however no end to the run of bad luck for Adrian Zaugg (Cram Compétition), who was forced to abandon in the pits.

On lap eight, Chris Van der Drift managed to snatch fourth place away from Brendon Hartley. Hartley then came under threat from his Motopark Academy team-mates, Filipe Albuquerque and Sébastien Buemi.
