But Van der Drift wasn't able to enjoy fourth position for long, as he was soon to make an error which saw him drop back to ninth. The battle for fourth place was then between the five Red Bull cars of Hartley, Albuquerque, Buemi, Piscopo and Edwards!

On lap ten, it was Sébastien Buemi who came through into fourth ahead of Piscopo, Albuquerque and Hartley, after these last two made a minor excursion into the gravel trap. But Albuquerque was yet to have his final word as he was to pass Piscopo on the following lap! Unfortunately, Filipe was to fall back to 16th soon afterwards. With a lap to go, the race within the race finally seemed to be decided with Buemi, followed by Piscopo, Hartley and Edwards.

Back in ninth, Tom Dillmann (SG Formula) accomplished a remarkable exploit to score two points while driving with a broken foot! Xavier Maasen (JD Motorsport) was the last name to complete the top ten.

Dani Clos: "I got off to a good start and went on the attack over the opening laps to hold off Carlo. The car was suffering a little towards the end but I managed to deal with it without too much difficulty."

Carlo Van Dam: "My start wasn't very good. Andersen came into contact with me in the opening bends and I lost ground on Dani. But from there the race went well. After my first podium in France, I have my first podium finish in the Eurocup. But now I think I've had enough of finishing second!"

Atte Mustonen: "I got off to a good start but the car was pretty tricky to drive in the opening laps. But it improved as the race went on. I'm happy with this first Eurocup podium finish."
